入列滾石雜誌「百名偉大」+「不朽百大藝人」名單、佔據 Gibson 吉他公司「史上 50 位頂尖吉他手」第四名的Eric Clapton，18 歲自組 Roosters 樂團，接著加入培育三大吉他神手 (Eric Clapton、Jeff Beck 與 Jimmy Page) 並有著「傳奇搖滾樂團」封號的 Yardbirds。65 年轉向藍調先驅 John Mayall的Bluesbreakers 樂團，翌年夥同 Jack Bruce及Ginger Baker 搭建起 Cream，68 年再次打造超級隊伍 Blind Faith。進入 70 年代的 Eric，邀來鍵盤手 Bobby Whitlock、貝斯手 Carl Radle、鼓手 Jim Gordon 組織起短命的 Derek And The Dominos，雖是如此，卻也激發 Eric 的潛能，替隨後的個人音樂事業奠定更穩固基礎。

Derek And The Dominos 於 1970 年發行唯一的錄音室專輯【Layla And Other Assorted Love Songs】，登上告示牌流行榜 Top16，隨後在 72、74、77 年間，都不思議的長賣回鍋入榜，獲頒金唱片銷售認證。2000 年成為「葛萊美名人堂」中的經典、VH1 頻道「史上最偉大專輯」第 89 席次、滾石雜誌「史上最偉大500張專輯」排名 115 位置。掀起 Southern Rock 風潮，全美最具影響力的搖滾樂團  The Allman Brothers Band，居於靈魂要角的吉他手Duane Allman，於1971年10月29日不幸因車禍喪生，這張他生前參與協助的錄音更顯珍貴！最具代表的“Layla”，進入滾石雜誌「史上最偉大500首單曲」名單#27，1993年Eric重繹Acoustic版本，抱回葛萊美「最佳搖滾歌曲」加冕。此 40 週年 2CD 紀念盤，除了原始專輯作品外，更加收初次曝光的珍稀錄音、全新混音和 Live 版本。
